To keep away joyriders, Metro pegs airport tickets at Rs 100

New Delhi: Travel on the New Delhi-IGI Airport Metro link promises to be fast as well as expensive. A ticket on the 19.5 km stretch will probably cost Rs 100 but will get you to the airport in a mere 16 minutes and offers a direct airport check-in.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed a flat rate of Rs 100 on the New Delhi-airport link. “A flat rate has been suggested at the airport link to make it economically viable. Employees of the Airport Authority of India... will be eligible for a 50 per cent discount,” C B K Rao, Director Projects & Planning at DMRC, said.
The high cost of the ticket will ensure that the Metro link will attract only bona fide passengers. The link will have tight security checks along the way.
