Deccan Aviation the worst performer among top 10 IPOs

Mumbai: The recently concluded Samavat 2062 was a landmark year in many ways for the Indian capital market, especially the primary market.
If one takes into consideration the top 10 initial public offers (IPOs) of the last Samvat, an interesting trend is visible. According to Delhi-based capital market research firm Prime Database, the total issue size of the top 10 IPOs was pegged at over Rs 7,000 crore. Most of them have managed to reward investors. The only exceptions are Deccan Aviation and Jagran Prakashan.
Deccan Aviation has been the worst performer among the top 10 IPOs and Jagran is only marginally in the red. The issue price of low-cost carrier Deccan was set at Rs 148 and the current market price is trading at a 28% discount at Rs 106. On July 21, 2006, the stock had touched a low of Rs 64. Jagran’s issue price was set at Rs 320 and it is currently trading at Rs 312.
