Indian's first new generation aircraft to arrive next week

New Delhi: At a time when national carriers are facing all sorts of troubles with their aging fleet, Indian will witness the induction of first new-generation aircraft ordered by them next Thursday.
A brand new Airbus, A-319, will join Indian's fleet. The airline had placed an order worth $ 2 billion for 43 Airbuses, said a spokesperson.
"We will get the first plane next week when it flies in from Hamburg via Sharjah. The A-319 has a maximum cruising speed of 850 kmph and a range of 5,500 km. It is a 122-seater plane with eight executive class seats,"said an airline spokesperson. The induction function will be presided over by civil aviation minister Praful Patel.
The A-319 will be the 74th plane in Indian's fleet.
