No takers for airlines’ low-fare offer

Muscat: Airlines operating to Indian destinations have slashed their fares in a drastic manner.
The offer, currently in the market to south Indian destinations like Kochi, Chennai, Thiruvanantha-puram and Hyderabad, is as low as RO62 plus tax one way and RO105 plus tax return. To Mumbai and Delhi, the fares are as low as RO58 plus tax one way and RO93 plus tax return.
But the response is not only dull, but there is an apparent confusion in the market ever since these fares have been featured, agency sources revealed to the Times of Oman yesterday.
The reason is simple. The airlines, which have featured these rates, have made one major mistake: they have forgotten that not only have the passengers become discerning, they are no longer led by such carrots, which do not meet the promise in the end. The problem with these fares is that these new fares are being featured at a time when it is of no use to the travelling public, travel agents note.
