PM mum on Qantas job moves

Prime Minister John Howard has refused to weigh into the debate over 300 Qantas jobs being moved to India, saying staff decisions are a matter for the employer.
Qantas is set to axe 300 information technology workers in Australia and send their jobs to India. The carrier has shortlisted two Indian companies to take over the work.
Mr Howard today declined to comment specifically on the airline's move to shift the jobs offshore.
"I don't think I can be in a position to give a running commentary on every single employment decision that's made by a company," he told reporters in Sydney.
