Work on aerobridges begins at Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The civil works by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on the two aerobridges at the international terminal of the Thiruvananthapuram airport have begun.
The aerobridges are being installed at an estimated cost of Rs.12.35 crore.
"The civil works to construct a 55-metre corridor from near the security hold area of the first floor of the terminal are on and the aerobridges will be commissioned in May 2007," Airport Director K. Natarajan told The Hindu .
The telescopic equipment, being procured by the AAI through a global tender process for airports in the country, would be fixed to the end of the corridor.
Bus lounges would be set up near the first aerobridge. These would be connected to the security hold area. The lounges would be provided to transport passengers to aircraft that cannot be connected to the aerobridge.
