Air traffic hit, heavy fog likely from December

New Delhi: The smog that has enveloped on Sunday afternoon led to low visibility at IGI Airport.
While road and rail transport is feared to get affected in the coming days, air traffic is severely hit at IGI. Since the secondary runway is closed when visibility falls below 2,000 metres, there is a long queue of planes to take off and land.
A delay of anywhere up to an hour is routine, "The simultaneous use of runways was started to ease air traffic congestion. Now with only one runway in use, things are again very bad,"said an airline official.
