Fog causes chaos at Delhi airport

New Delhi: Passengers had to go through a harrowing time as a number of Delhi bound flights were delayed and diverted at Wednesday night due to heavy fog.
A sudden burst of rain and strong winds caused poor visibility as a result the flights could not land at the Delhi airport
There was heavy traffic congestion because of safeguards taken by the airport authorities against low visibility and strong winds.
Only one runway was functioning between 11:30 pm (IST) on Wednesday night and 4:00 am (IST) on Thursday morning, which led to a total of 15 flights being delayed.
Three air Sahara flights were delayed by over two to six hours late on Wednesday night. Three Jet Airways flights and one Air India flight from Dubai were diverted to Jaipur.
A Delhi bound spice jet flight from Bangalore has also been delayed.
