Indian airport security to be upgraded

New Delhi: India has decided to upgrade security at airports by inducting latest security technologies in view of growing threat perceptions.
The measures include deployment of online X-ray baggage screening system at all airports in a phased manner, starting with international airports.
The "hyper-sensitive" airports - Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad - would be provided with biometric system, perimeter intrusion security system and improved CCTV coverage, the minister said.
An explosive detection system would also be installed at all airports.
