Woman passenger threatens suicide as fog delays flight

New Delhi: An irate woman passenger from Jammu and Kashmir threatened to commit suicide after a Srinagar-bound Air Deccan flight was delayed due to thick blanket of fog at the Delhi airport yesterday morning.
"I will commit suicide after two hours if they do not send me home. All flights [Jet, Spicejet, Go Air, Air Sahara] are going. I will see how precious a student's life is in India.
" I have been coming here for two days. I have sold my cell phone last night to stay in Delhi. Tell me where I will go. I have no money. What do I do?" asked the woman, student of Aligarh Muslim university.
A scuffle broke out at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here after some of the passengers were not given any reason for the delay of the flight.

The woman student sent
to Srinagar by Jet flight

Clearly rattled by this outburst — that was
being beamed live by news channels — and
the threat of self immolation, Air Deccan
sent the student -Lubna Khan- and a woman
accompanying her to Srinagar on a Jet
Airways flight to Srinagar in the afternoon.
"We have an arrangement with Jet Airways
and Spicejet under which they may
accommodate our passengers. Jet Airways
flight was leaving around noon and our flight
was early morning and couldn't take off
due to bad weather," said an airline
spokesperson.
