Delhi fog recedes, flights take off

New Delhi:Delhi began the year 2007 under a thick blanket of fog.The fog started settling in well before midnight on Sunday and grew thicker as the new year began.
No landings or takeoffs were possible after 10:00 pm (IST) on Sunday night.
Things were only slightly better on Monday with visibility barely touching 135 metres as late as 8:30 am. Only three CAT-III enabled flights managed to take off in this period.
But things later improved with over 20 flights taking off.
The bad news however, is that 24 domestic flights have got diverted and so have 12 international flights.
When the fog lifts, air travellers will have to contend with a huge backlog of flights.
