Finnair to focuss on India; drops Kuala Lumpur

Finnish national carrier Finnair plc has dropped plans to fly to Kuala Lumpur as it focuses its resources on expanding its operations in fast growing India.
Finnair had planned to fly between Helsinki and Kuala Lumpur three times a week via Bangkok, Thailand, starting in May this year.
However, Finnair deputy chief executive Henrik Arle was reported on Monday as saying that the carrier had decided not to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
It is instead increasing its services to India and would rely on regional partners to handle some of its traffic in the Asian region.
The decision will also see Finnair stop its existing flights between Bangkok and Singapore from May onwards.
The carrier estimated its Asian traffic would increase by some 30 per cent this year and hopes to draw growth from the Indian market. Almost a third of its revenue now comes from its operations in Asia.
