Model aircraft flying show at Siliguri

Siliguri: To develop an interest among youngsters and to create public awareness about aviation, Siliguri played host to an annual model aircraft flying show on Sunday at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Institute Ground in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri District.
Organised by the Aeronautical Society of India, the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and the Siliguri Mahakuma Krira Parishad, the day-long show featured model aircrafts and helicopters, controlled by remote control devices.
In all, seven aircrafts and a helicopter were displayed at the show. About 12 aero- modelers from across the country participated in the three-hour-long show.
The size of most of these models was about five feet, and they flew at a height of 300 feet for a distance of three kilometers. Some of the models included Sukhoi SU 26M and CAP 21 aircraft.
