Aerospace engineering conference held

Chennai: Multinationals have begun to outsource production and research operations to India as a result of the maturing of technology across the aerospace spectrum, said A.R. Upadhya, director, National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) here on Friday.
The Jaya Engineering College, among the few institutions in the State to have aerospace engineering programmes, organised a daylong symposium on the subject.
The Bangalore-based NAL recently signed a contract with a Mahindra subsidiary to develop a four or five seater that could find application in executive transport, in among the first tie-ups between private institutions and government agencies for research and development purposes.
The boom in civil aviation was also visible with the 50 per cent passenger growth in the sector last year.
