Amausi ‘unfit’ for international flights: Report

As of now Amausi Airport is unfit to become a full-fledged international airport if one goes by the confidential Airports Authority of India (AAI) report submitted to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recently.
The AAI team, which visited the airport recently, has raised objections to basic infrastructure lacunae that needed to be corrected immediately by Amausi to be eligible for the lincence for operating international flights.
One of the major concerns raised by the inspecting team pertained to lingering land acquisition problems coming in the way of expansion plans for the Amausi airport to facilitate development of the airport infrastructure in line with ICAO’s stringent requirements, sources in the DGCA headquarters in New Delhi told HT Lucknow Live.
This was apart from the need for aero- bridges with glass walls, escalators, an integrated building management system, “intelligent terminals” and improved traffic management on the city side of the airport.
The findings of the inspecting team which submitted its report to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recommended corrective action at the earliest.
