Dabolim Airport officials welcome PM’s decision

Vasco: The Prime Minister’s decision to ask the Indian Navy to transfer of 8.77 acres of land for the expansion of Dabolim airport has been welcomed by officials at Dabolim Airport and the various airlines that operate in the State.
“We have finally succeeded in getting land to expand the airport. Dabolim airport now has an opportunity to grow,” said Airport Terminal Manager Utpal Baruah.
He opined that the additional land would enhance the facilities for passengers and would avoid congestion.
“Congestion has become a regular feature at Dabolim Airport. At present, AAI faces great difficulties in accommodating non-scheduled flights. Most non-scheduled flights are diverted to other airports due unavailability of parking space at Dabolim Airport,” Baruah said.
“The added space will now be of great use to the new international terminal building, aircraft parking apron and facilities for cargos, which will certainly help various airline operations and charters flights,” he added.
