Duty free promotions in Cochin airport post big growth

Kochi: The Cochin Duty Free Shop at Cochin international airport is breaking new grounds, not just a record 50 percent growth in its annual average sales.
The duty free shops at Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), India's first international airport under the pubic-private partnership model, have also earned the reputation of being amongst the lowest priced in the Asia-Middle East region.
Run jointly by CIAL and Alpha Kreol India Ltd, a subsidiary of the multi-national Alpha UK and UAE-based Kreol Group, the duty free shops compare favourably even to Dubai International airport.
In a company release issued here Tuesday, S.Bharath, the managing director of CIAL opined that it is convenient for travellers to make purchases at the landing destination and avoid the inconvenience of hand-carrying it.
