Alliance Air to acquire 16 aircrafts

New Delhi: Alliance Air, the wholly-owned subsidiary of state-owned carrier Indian, plans to acquire sixteen 50-seater turbo-prop aircrafts over the next 18 months for expanding its operations.
The airline is already on the look out in the global market for various types of 50-seater turbo-prop aircrafts, either through direct acquisition or through the leasing route, sources said.
While the sources maintained that no final decision has been taken as yet, they did not rule out leasing of all the 16 aircrafts or a mix of purchase and lease.
The airline, which has placed four ATR-42 turbo-props for operations in the Northeast, has submitted a proposal to the North Eastern Council (NEC) and Department of North Eastern Region to increase this dedicated fleet to six.
