Almost 300 British tourists were kept on a plane in scorching heat for six hours after an unscheduled fuel stop.
The 288 holidaymakers from Manchester were refused a chance to get off the Boeing 767-300 to stretch their legs during the ordeal at Calcutta Airport.
The Thomson flight left Manchester at 4pm on Wednesday bound for Phuket, Thailand.

It was diverted to Calcutta due to military manoeuvres in Indian air space.
A Thomson spokeswoman said: "Air Traffic Control advised before the flight air space would be closed due to military manoeuvres in Indian air space and the plane was re-routed. Due to the extended flight path, an additional fuel stop was required."
