Ex-pilot puts question mark on air travel

New Delhi: The quality of aircraft and ways of flying have once again come under scanner. In a petition filed with Delhi High Court, a former pilot has stated that more than 30 aircraft of Indian Airlines (now Indian) have become old and the right procedure of taking off and landing isn’t being followed by this airline.
The petition has been filed by Mr PN Sharma, who had been a captain with Indian Airlines. In a petition filed recently, his counsel Mr Naresh Kaushik alleged that airlines do not follow the right procedure of taking off and landing thereby not only wasting fuel but also putting the life of passengers in danger.
Mr Sharma also blamed the airline management for adopting the wrong method during emergency landings at the runway.
After hearing the petition, Mr Justice MK Sharma and Mr Sanjiv Khanna have issued notices to the chairman-cum-managing director of Indian, Union of India through director-general, ministry of civil aviation, director operations Indian and to Airbus Industrie through their regional representative and have also asked them to file their replies by 30 May.
