Importers and Exporters operating through the Delhi Air Cargo Customs experienced certain difficulties in filing their documents through ICEGATE for the last one week.
Consequently, documents were filed through the Service centers of CMC, creating an additional pressure on these centers.
On 9th April, 2007, the service centers were unable to transfer documents to the ICES, thus aggravating the problem of filing of documents.
With regard to these problems, Member (Customs), CBEC has clarified that NIC has rectified the problems relating to the Service centers by the evening of 10th April, 2007.
CMC and the Customs department deployed additional staff to work overtime to clear the backlog of the shipments.
The problems relating to ICEGATE were resolved and by 11th April, the exporters/importers were able to file their documents through ICEGATE.
The import shipments were normalized by 13th evening, and the export shipments are expected to stabilize by this afternoon.
