Jet-Sahara deal not to affect Deccan: Gopinath

New Delhi: Air Deccan is not concerned over the takeover of Air Sahara by Jet because its model of operation and the consumer space occupied by the airlines is different, a senior official of the low cost carrier said.
"We are not worried or concerned about the takeover of Air Sahara by Jet because our model of operation is different from them," said GR Gopinath, Air Deccan's Managing Director.
"Eighty per cent of our flights go to small cities, whereas Jet and Sahara fly to large cities and cater to the upper class," he further said.
He also said that the worst thing, which happens after mergers and acquisitions, is that people lose their jobs and resources go unused.
"We are adding one aircraft to our fleet every month and our target is to acquire 82-88 aircraft, including Airbus and ATR aircraft, in the next 80 months," Gopinath informed.
He said that Air Deccan's prime focus will be the inner circle of Asia, West Asia, SAARC nations and South Asian countries and it hopes to start operating from August next year.
