Kingfisher to scrap airport deal with IA

New Delhi: Just ahead of its second anniversary, Kingfisher has decided to discontinue getting ground handling done at airports here by Indian Airlines.
The Rs 100-crore annual contract with IA lapsed on Wednesday and now the airline has begun doing the job on its own. At a time of mergers, this ‘break-up’ has come with its share of mild acrimony.
A senior Kingfisher official said that the ground handling was going well till the airline had only 10 Airbus.
‘‘In the past few months, our fleet has grown to 20 Airbus and since IA was also experiencing growth, our service was getting affected,’’ the official said. Kingfisher currently has a fleet of 27 aircraft with seven ATRs and 20 Airbus.
