New Delhi: Kingfisher Airlines chairman Vijay Mallya said on Monday that he hoped to use the Airbus A-380, the world’s largest aircraft, to start flights to the United States. He said that the A-380 was extremely fuel efficient and that operating costs would be down by 25 per cent on the New Delhi-New York and Mumbai-New York sector when the airline begins operating on these sectors, using the A-380 aircraft.
Kingfisher Airlines will acquire the first of its five A-380s by 2011 and will use these aircraft to operate flights to destinations on the east coast of the US like New York.
However, the airline hopes to begin its flights to destinations on the west coast of the United States (like Los Angeles) by next year when the airline acquires Airbus A-340 aircraft.
