‘A-380 should land in afternoon’

New Delhi: Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) at Delhi airport have suggested that the giant A-380 aircraft should land at New Delhi during the "non-peak" afternoon hours on its next visit. The 240-ft. long A-380, the world’s biggest aircraft, landed at New Delhi at 10.30 am on Sunday during the peak hour of air traffic, ATC sources said. In fact, ATC officials are considering taking up the matter with the Delhi airport. "The A-380 should land at Delhi airport ideally between 1 pm and 2 pm which is part of the non-peak hours, instead of in the morning," an ATC source said.
"There was a slight delay in flights about half-an-hour before and after the aircraft landed. We had to carry out two runway inspections for the A-380. One was before the aircraft landed and one was after," an ATC source told this newspaper.
However, Delhi airport officials categorically denied that there was any delay on account of the A-380’s landing on Sunday. "The plane landed with clockwork precision and everything went off smoothly. There was absolutely no delay of flights," a Delhi airport official said.
