Valparai/Salem: Four Anglo-Indians, including a couple who lived in the tea town of Valparai in Coimbatore district, are among the 15 Indians missing after a Kenya Airlines Boeing aircraft crashed in Cameroon early on Saturday.
Kevin Joseph J. Nigli (60), who worked as technical advisor for an estate in Cameroon, and his wife Shirly Nigli (58), a teacher, were on their way home.
Kevin Nigli had worked as field officer with the Periya Karumalai Tea Estate here for decades and after his retirement moved to Cameroon on contract for two years. As Nigli's father had moved to Valparai, Kevin was brought up in the town.
Gracy Manuel (55), wife of Francis Coreya, and Joseph (57), who worked at the Thaimudi estate, near Mudis in Valaparai, were also on the same flight. They all hailed from different parts of Kerala and left Valparai after working for decades in the plantation industry.
