New Delhi: Air Deccan chief operating officer Warwick Brady is slated to join Indigo Partners, a private equity firm, to head the operations of Jakarta-based carrier Mandala Airlines. Indigo Partners had acquired a 49% stake in the carrier late last year. When contacted the company spokesperson said, “He has not put in his papers.”
Nevertheless, sources said Air Deccan has already given the mandate to a global executive search firm to hunt for a CEO for the airline.
Industry sources told ET that Mr Brady has been upset at not getting full operational control of the airline. He is also said to be unhappy about the valuation of his stock options. Mr Brady joined Air Deccan in September 2005 after a three-year stint in Ryanair.
Sources close to the company indicated that Mr Brady could stay back only if the new strategic investors — likely to enter the company soon — offer him a better deal, both in terms of operational powers and remuneration.
