Airlines gear up to woo business travellers

Mumbai: With Air-India, Kingfisher, Indian and Paramount Airways registering a sudden increase in their business class travel in the past two months, most of them have introduced innovative schemes to woo business class travellers. All four operators have recorded a 30-40% increase in the business class seat occupancy.
Airlines like Indian, which has 19 business class seats on their A319 and 30 seats on A300 aircraft, have recently introduced an offer by which if the passenger pays Rs 100 more on the economy class fare, he gets to travel in the business class.
“We have introduced this offer on nearly 70 destinations in the country. We have recorded a 30% increase in our business class travel last month and are hoping to record a further growth in the segment,” said an official from the airline.
Air-India have launched an in-flight magazine called, Corporate to enhance the travel experience of a business traveller. Paramount Airways has introduced a frequent-flyer programme in which business travellers get an eighth boarding pass free if he has travelled seven times by Paramount Airways.
In a bid to reach out to capture business travellers Kingfisher too has a Mega Mile offer for the business traveller.
