Airports in Kerala put on 'special security alert'

Kochi: All the three airports in Kerala have been put on special security alert following escalation of violence in Sri Lanka, a top official said.
The directive followed an alert message received today from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Director of the Nedumabssery International airport, A C K Nair said.
The airports at Karipur, Nedumbassery and Thiruvananthpuram have been directed to give "special attention to passengers, cargo and baggage coming from and to Sri Lanka," airport sources said.
Nair convened a meeting here this evening in which security arrangements at Nedumbassery were evaluated and further tightened, the sources said.
Sri Lankan Airlines operates two flights daily to Nedumbassery.
