If police knew about the 1985 Air India bombing eight months before it happened, then it should have been avoided, says a heartbroken Sherwood Park man who lost his wife and son in the attack.
Krishna Bhat, 66, said he's devastated by this week's revelation that authorities possessed information on the bomb plot as early as October 1984.
"They were well-informed. How come this is coming out now?
"All along, they're pushing it under the rug," he told Sun Media yesterday Are we all zombies? "Are we living in a Banana Republic here?"
Bhat, who angrily called for a public inquiry two years ago into the bombing, lashed out at the Canadian government and law enforcement agencies for not doing enough to stop the tragedy.
Krishna Bhat's wife, Muktha, and his nine-year-old son, Deepak, died when a bomb exploded on the Boeing 747 in June 1985, killing 329 people.
A public inquiry has been told Vancouver police were informed eight months before the bombing that Sikh militants were planning an attack on the airline.
