Hunt on for new DGCA

New Delhi: The civil aviation ministry had started a search for a new director general of civil aviation (DGCA) as the present incumbent Kanu Gohain is slated to retire end of June this year.
It is nearly after two decades that the ministry has to look out side the regulator for the top job.
The reason for this is that no one has requisite experience to take up the top job. The ministry couple of months back had given an advertisement and they have received only three eligible applications.
According to sources in civil aviation ministry the recruitment rules says that any IAS or officers from the Indian Air Force of the rank of Air Marshall having a minimum twelve years of experience in aviation, flying, aircraft engineering or airworthiness, out of which, a minimum of five years of experience should be in administration and finance disciplines is eligible for post of DGCA.
