India may bar entry for Malaysian carriers

India's civil aviation watchdog has asked its Malaysian counterparts to state why their carriers should not be barred entry into Indian airspace when its own airlines were being denied reciprocal entry.
In Malaysia's case, a letter from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) says two designated carriers Air Sahara and Air India Express were being disallowed entry into that country in violation of their bilateral pact.
'The DGCA has basically asked its counterpart to explain why Malaysian Airlines should not be denied entry into India since two of our designated carriers are not being given landing rights in Kuala Lumpur,' an official spokesperson said.
