Indian air carriers raise fuel surcharge

Mumbai: Indian air carriers have raised the fuel surcharge by 150 rupees a ticket following a 3.5 percent rise in aviation turbine fuel prices.
Following the rise, fuel surcharge would increase to 900 rupees a ticket.
Budget Airlines Deccan Aviation Ltd., which runs Air Deccan, and SpiceJet Ltd. raised the fares from May 2, officials at the two airlines said.
State-run Indian Airlines and top carrier Jet Airways Ltd. will also raise fares by a similar amount but from May 4, the two airlines said in a statement.
