Thiruvananthapuram Airport secures ISO certification

Thiruvananthapuram: The premier airport of the State has turned environment-friendly and has become the second airport in South India to secure the environment management system compliance certificate under ISO 14001:2004.
The certificate comes a month after the Thiruvananthapuram international airport acquired the Director General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) Aerodrome licence. The airport is the fourth in the country after Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mangalore airports to obtain the ISO certificate.
The operating airlines, especially foreign airlines, look forward to such certification by international agencies to commence services.
The certificate was handed over by Principal Secretary (Transport) and Ex-officio Chairman of the Airport Environment Management Committee Jiji Thomson to Mr. Natarajan here on Wednesday.
The certificate had been issued by the Joint Accreditation system of Australia and New Zealand.
