Doldrum trauma for Port Blair-bound

Kolkata: Passengers of Jet Airways and Air Sahara broke out in angry protests at NSC Bose Airport this morning after the flights of both the airlines to Port Blair were cancelled. Nearly 100 passengers stayed at the airport till evening, demanding they be flown to their destination tomorrow and given hotel accommodation until then. Many others, however, went away after taking their refunds.
Air Sahara authorities asked passengers aboard the flight which had returned to Kolkata around 11.50 a.m. after failing to land at Port Blair to stay inside the aircraft, saying they still hoped to operate the flight. Around 12.50 p.m. the airline announced the flight was cancelled for the day. This infuriated the 180-odd passengers who gathered in front of the airline’s counter. Passengers of the cancelled Jet Airways flight also agitated in front of Jet Airways counter. After two hours, officials announced additional flights would be operated tomorrow for the benefit of the stranded passengers.
