Taximen continue strike at Mumbai airport

Scores of air-passengers at the Mumbai International Airport yesterday seem to be inconvenienced with the strike called by the Bombay Taximen Union.
The union went on strike to protest against the relocation of the pre-paid taxi stand. As part of the strike, they stopped accepting fares and shut down pre-paid counters, leaving
passengers at the mercy of auto rickshaw drivers.
The strike comes in protest of the Airport Authority of India's (AAI) decision that directs taxi drivers to vacate the parking area near Terminal A and Terminal C. AAI plans to float tenders for private car parking in this area.
But taxi drivers argue they have been stationed at the parking area for the past 25 years and shifting base to a new place, which is a kilometer away, would mean losing a lot of business.
