Toll eyes India in Asian expansion

Toll Holdings, Australia's top transport group, said Asia would generate more than 20 percent of its earnings in the next five years, compared with less than 10 percent now.
Toll, which owns warehouses and a stake in airline Virgin Blue , wants to buy more firms in the Asia-Pacific, particularly in India, China, Australia and New Zealand, chief executive Paul Little said.
The firm has pulled off a string of big deals, snapping up Patrick Corp, Australia's biggest ports operator, for US$5.19 billion and Singapore's SembCorp Logistics, Southeast Asia's largest logistics firm, for $725.38 million, both in 2006.
Toll was talking to India's Tata Group about expanding Toll's warehousing and distribution facilities there, Little said.
The group is also interested in India's express courier business, he said.
