AI-IA merger process to be completed by Sunday

New Delhi: The process of Air India-Indian Airlines' merger to form the National Aviation Company India Ltd (NACIL) is going to be over by this Sunday and passengers will see the new combine's logos at airport counters from August 1.
An aviation ministry spokesperson said the complete new look — with cabin crew uniforms and boarding passes — will be visible from next month. This will be unveiled at the airline's inaugural nonstop Mumbai-New York flight on August 1.
Once this happens, AI and IA will cease to exist as individual airlines while the former will remain as the brand name of NACIL because of its global familiarity with travellers.
NACIL will continue using the IC code for domestic travellers as integrating the two airlines' systems is expected to take over a year.
