Airport at Gr Noida: Ministry assures of Centre’s nod soon

New Delhi: Fast-tracking the move to set up a new airport at Greater Noida, the Civil Aviation Ministry has assured the Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government that it will procure an “in-principle approval” for the airport from the government within three months.
This follows the Ministry’s examination of the techno-feasibility study and project report sent by the UP government. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 3,505 crore.
The proposed site for the airport, identified for the construction of the Taj International Aviation Hub by the UP Government is nearly 72 kms from Delhi and 120 kms from Agra. Roughly 1,500 hectares of land had been identified for the construction of the project.
According to the UP government report, the site has been selected keeping in mind all other strategic points in the nearby areas and so as to have the least environmental impact.
