Bad weather grounds five flights

Five flights — three to the North-East and two to north Bengal — could not be operated on Thursday due to bad weather.
Two Agartala-bound flights — one by Indian Airlines and the other by Air Deccan — were cancelled due to inclement weather in the region.
So was an additional Alliance Air flight to Silchar that was to ferry passengers booked on the previous day’s flight. On Wednesday, too, Alliance Air’s Silchar flight was cancelled due to bad weather.
In the north Bengal sector, the Jet Airways flight to Bagdogra returned after five hours. The flight took off at 12.20 pm but was diverted to Guwahati due to bad weather. After a three-hour halt, the captain attempted to fly again to Bagdogra but had to return to Kolkata as bad weather persisted. There were 183 passengers on board the fight.
The IA flight to Bagdogra that was to take off at 2 pm, waited for the weather to improve. It did take off at 4.10 pm but returned at 5.30 pm. The flight had 60 passengers.
