Bangalore: Has the city become a transit route for illegal travellers and immigrants heading overseas? A month after three Sri Lankans - en route to France - were arrested in Mumbai for travelling with fake passports from Bangalore, the Airport police are now on the look out for two Sri Lankans who produced false emergency travel documents at the immigration centre.
Paramanathan Pradeep and Sinnaiah Sivakumar from Jaffna, who claim to be residents of Denmark, are absconding.
The duo, bound to Paris via Mumbai on an Air India flight, arrived at the airport immigration centre on July 2 at 2 am and submitted emergency travel certificates issued by Denmark. An immigration official grew suspicious and asked them to wait.
Later, the official faxed the certificates to the Danish embassy in New Delhi, which replied that the documents were fictitious and that it doesn't issue emergency travel documents. The embassy also confirmed that they were not Danish citizens. Soon after receiving the reply, officials rushed to the visitors lounge, but could'nt find the duo.
