Emirates opens fourth Indian gateway

Emirates airline has announced that it will launch non-stop services to Ahmedabad in October.
Launching at the start of the winter time-table on October 28 and flying from Dubai to Ahmedabad, the six weekly A330-200 and Boeing 777-220 flights will take roughly three hours, with Ahmedabad becoming Emirates' fourth Indian gateway after it opened Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Bangalore in 2006.
"Emirates decision to start operations to Ahmedabad comes close on the heels of our recent announcement to expand services to Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin and Hyderabad; clearly signalling our expansion-based strategy for India," said chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline & Group, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum.
Ahmedabad is India's sixth largest city and an industrial hub boasting a successful textile industry, as well as historical and architectural attractions.
