The Enstrom 480B Is Now Hotter Than Ever

Menominee, Michigan: Enstrom Helicopter Corporation has certified an option for its turbine model 480B that will increase the airframe temperature limitation from 41° C to 50 ° C. This modification was sought due to the high temperatures realized in its newest market, India. With the certification and installation in the first two production aircraft completed, the results have proven effective in lowering component temperatures. Venture Aviation, the introductory customer for Enstrom in India, has arranged contracts to operate the aircraft throughout India for a multitude of missions. This increase in airframe temperature will now allow them to take full advantage of the low acquisition and operation costs associated with the 480B.
“The 480B is the perfect helicopter for India due to its low operating costs and the flexibility to meet a multitude of missions.” said Colonel Sanjeev Choudhary, CEO Monarch International, “and now it can operate in our extreme temperature environment.”
Founded in 1959, Enstrom Helicopter Corporation manufactures a complete line of helicopters including the three-place, piston-powered F28F and 280FX, and the turbine-powered 480B.
