Mumbai: In A bid to put itself on the global map, Kingfisher Airlines is negotiating with Airbus to advance deliveries of two A380 aircraft so that the planes are inducted into its fleet much earlier than scheduled. Talks are at an advanced stage and sources say the Kingfisher group, now one of Airbus’s largest customer’s globally, could well be the first to operate scheduled flights of the aircraft from Indian airports. The Indian carrier had ordered five of the planes in 2005 and deliveries were scheduled for 2011, but the new developments could change this significantly.
Speaking to ET from San Francisco, the UB group chief Vijay Mallya said the aircraft will be deployed on the London routes from Mumbai and Delhi. Commenting on his plans, Mr Mallya said his A380s will be outfitted in a three-class configuration to be real ‘palaces in the sky’. They will be outfitted with the innovative amenities, which the space on the aircraft allows. “In true Kingfisher style, the plane will have a casino, bars and a beauty salon on board,” Mr Mallya said.
