SpiceJet may go for top-deck reshuffle

New Delhi: Low-Cost carrier SpiceJet is likely to see some top-level changes in the coming weeks with the appointment of a chief operating officer. The company may also have a new CEO.
Sources told ET that Istithmar, the Dubai-based private equity arm, which has an 11% stake in the company, with two positions on the board, has been pressing for strengthening the management team including a top-level reshuffle for some time.
The company has been interviewing potential candidates for the COO’s position while at the same time has been on the lookout for possible CEO candidates, sources said.
Two potential COO candidates — one expat and one Indian — are likely to be interviewed by the board early next week.
SpiceJet launched its service Mark Winders as CEO. But Mr Winders left the organisation in September 2005, citing personal reasons. He subsequently joined another low-cost carrier GoAir in January this year. Chairman of the board Siddhant Sharma took additional charge of the CEO post after Mr Winders’s departure.
