Dibrugarh: An Alliance Air flight on the Kolkata - Dibrugarh route escaped a major disaster today, as the Boeing 737-200 aircraft developed an engine failure while overflying Bangladesh. The aircraft was taken back to Kolkata and passengers brought here in an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Dibrugarh was earlier served by an Indian Airbus A320 service, flying on the Kolkata - Dibrugarh sector five days a week. Despite full passenger load on the sector, the airline authorities withdrew the Airbus and instead began operating the ageing Boeing aircrafts under Alliance Air.
