Sahara blames Jet for JetLite woes

New Delhi: The deal may have been done but the sparks are still flying between Jet Airways and Sahara India Pariwar. JetLite - the airline formed after Air Sahara was acquired by Jet nearly four months back - is struggling in areas like on time performance, and the new management has blamed Sahara for poorly maintained aircraft and work culture of the employees.
Reacting to these claims, Sahara said, "It is very surprising to know that the poor performance of JetLite has been credited to us when it is known that the performance of the same airline was very good till the last day Sahara was operating it. Jet's accusation is its internal problem... ," said Abhijit Sarkar, Sahara's head (corporate communications).
Jet retained 2,300 of Sahara's 4,100 employees who it felt could fit in its culture. "Under the deal, Jet had liberty to choose workers. ...Even after this, why their on time performance is worse than as under earlier management?" said a Sahara official.
There are also allegations that a number of pilots have quit JetLite in the past three months and some Sahara employees have not been paid.
