9/11, Air India victims' families gather in T.O.

Toronto: Friends, relatives and politicians remembered those lost in the Sept. 11 attacks and the Air India bombing at a private ceremony in Toronto on Tuesday.
Twenty-four Canadians were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks and 329 people died in the 1985 Air India bombing off the coast of Ireland.
Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day was also in attendance at the intimate gathering and said a national memorial for the Canadians lost during the attacks is being considered in Ottawa.
Day said commemorative plaques currently reside on Parliament Hill and at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, but the Department of Canadian Heritage is reviewing a request for a national memorial.
Susheel Gupta lost his mother in the Air India bombing and represents the Air India Victims Families Association.
"Let today be about those who died, those who we loved," Gupta said addressing the small crowd.
A steady stream of people visited the U.S. Consulate on Tuesday to leave flowers and cards in remembrance of the lives lost.
