Air India bags UN award on environment protection

New Delhi: National carrier Air India has bagged a prestigious United Nations Award for Environmental Protection.
The Montreal Protocol Public Awareness Award of the United Nations Environment Programme was received by its joint managing director Vishwapati Trivedi in Montreal, the airline said in a release here.
The award was given to Air India in recognition of its efforts in protection of the ozone layer, including its collaborative activities with the UNEP and its ozone action programme, it said.
Based on the strategic approach, AI undertook several awareness activities in regard to ozone layer protection and other environmental issues like conservation of energy, forests and other natural resources.
