Airline passengers stranded for 6 hours

Mumbai: Over 100 passengers of a Mumbai-bound Spicejet flight from New Delhi were stranded at Delhi airport for six hours as the pilot who was to fly the aircraft got delayed owing to bird hits in Kolkata and Delhi airports.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 9:30 pm on Friday.
Captain J S Dhillon, Vice President (Operations), Spicejet, said that flight number-121 was delayed due to two bird hits at Kolkata airport and Delhi airport which had a cascading effect on the schedule of the pilot of the flight who was to take flight to Mumbai.
One of the passengers Jitesh Popat termed the delay as troublesome. He also alleged there were no announcements.
“Initially when the flight wasn’t taking off, we were not given any reasons for the delay. After over an hour, they started calling it “operational problems”. But they (airlines) should have made some announcements or rescheduled the flight. We touched Mumbai at 4 am,” Popat said.
